I went to the organizational meeting last night and enjoyed it very much because of all the people there. I made social connections and re-established my desire to be part of the network that spreads Senator Obamas message of change.
I felt the content of the meeting was good for a person who is new to the drive. (like the women sitting next to me.) I think they really got some good information out of it. In terms of information for people who have already surfed the website and have joined the groups, there really wasn't anything new that came to light. I sort of thought it was a catch-22. You needed to be part of the website to know about the meeting and the biggest piece of advice from Buffy and James was... Join the website!
What can we do that is basically free and is outside the internet that can bring more people into the world of the Obama movement for change?
For example. I was out at the Rockies game today and it would have been so great to have 100 of those little paper flyers with www.barackobama.com on them to hand to random strangers. I really should have grabbed a handful of the flyers that were at the meeting. Your thoughts?
I'm glad you were at the meeting! I think the best thing that came of it was the chance to get to meet other people. I don't know how many people came up to me and said that they met someone in their neighborhood and that they've already started planning an event. One lady even ran into friends she didn't know supported Obama!
I was actually very surprised how many people were there who weren't on the website. A few people even mentioned that they don't "do" the internet. I was really puzzled as to how they found out about the meeting, but I guess it all worked out!
Here's an idea someone gave me: go to Vista Print and get some of their free business cards to promote Obama. I got some made and they should be here in time for the canvassing event.
I'm glad to hear that there were so many connections made at the event and what you have given me is a great idea. Vista Point huh. Hopefully I can get them in time for my next rockies game at the end of May. I love the internet. The answer to most every basic question is out here. Just need to know where to look.
